PUBLIC FORUM ON NEW TOWN HALL SITE
A public forum was held on Thursday evening, April 25th, to receive comments from members of the public relative to the architectural elevation drawings for the new Town Hall site located at 8 Newmarket Road. Fourteen options were presented, and through a series of questions comparing different options, one particular concept seemed to be the most favorable to the citizens who participated. That concept included extending the exiting building to the north for a lobby and adding a one and one-half story Council chamber to the north of the lobby. There were other concepts that received less support. There was also support about particular details including removal of all chimneys (which are only cosmetic), removal of any type of window shutters, and the concept of screening the tall elevator shaft behind the facade of the building.
