Hi Michael

I am writing to support the continuation of various activities on the Mill Pond 
Center property.  I understand there is a public hearing on the design review to the 
MPC property to allow one lot to be carved out of the portion of the property along 
the driveway in order to build a house there.  The Mill Pond Center used to be a 
center for the arts in Durham for many, many years.  Some day I would like to see 
the property returned to some appropriate use for the public -- something that will 
preserve its historic nature and the visual beauty of the land and buildings.  I think 
by limiting use of the property for single family residences would be a 
mistake.  Allowing one building lot seems appropriate but denying the rest of the 
property the chance to be used for arts, entertainment, camps, events -- or whatever 
a new owner may determine as workable.

I have other commitment tomorrow night when the PB meets or I would be there in 
person.
