Todd,
I am going to try to attend the planning board meeting this evening, but I know that there are
other items on the agenda (and rightly so!) that may make public comments longer - and I will
have to leave by 7:30 for elementary school-age bedtime.

Aaron and I are in support of the concept by Young Drive LLC to create senior housing. I have
not seen renderings, but we hope that they will work with the town to create a housing
opportunity that will create community for their intended audience of 55+ with gathering spaces
and public green spaces. We all benefit from surrounding ourselves with a supportive community
(micro and macro). Opportunities to connect in housing design would benefit this audience - and
the marketability of such a design. We would encourage the developer to maintain a vegetative
buffer for the property.

If my dreams were realized, I would hope that the developers would create reasonably priced
condos that appeal to families and professionals to enhance our tax base and prevent our school
enrollments from dropping too low. As I understand it, low enrollments may reduce
opportunities for our children and the continued appeal of the Oyster River School System
(which would be bad for economic development, as you know).

Now, more than ever, people question the need for the stand alone home with lots of land and
look instead to homes that require less effort so that they can focus on their families or their
personal interest.

That being said, a senior development is positively more desired than student housing. It would
also preclude them from needing to meet many of the requirements of the law suit settlement.
Though, depending on the audience, I might recommend that some sort of emergency system be
put into place (such as emergency call buttons), rather than video surveillance.

Thank you for considering my email,
