Plaza. I’d appreciate your passing on my comments to the P.B. From what I’ve seen, the plan looks ill-conceived for some of the following reasons: my concern about the displacement of the current businesses and the scheme of the placement of a bank with a drive-through window, which looks like both a traffic and potential safety problem; my concern that there are already many large-scale projects for student and mixed-use housing/buildings and it would be prudent to wait until the town has a chance to assess how close to the saturation point we may be already before considering another huge building; my concern about so much building changing the landscape of the town; my concern about how little resemblance there is to the plan generated over more than a year and a half in the initial meetings re development of the plaza with many meetings and input from townspeople and hardworking members of the core group of volunteers and professionals at that time (in 2008, if I remember correctly). I have other issues, but this is enough for one e-mail, as a starter. I urge the Planning Board to proceed with utmost caution in their response to this plan. Thanks for your attention and patience. Sincerely, Phyllis Heilbronner, Durham.
