Lorrie Pitt - Town Clerk-Tax Collector
LORRIE PITT - Town Clerk-Tax Collector
15 Kelsey Drive
Education: I graduated from Oyster River High School. I starting working at Durham Bank in 1980, over the next twelve years, I attended many classes involving banking, accounting and customer service. In 1992 I started working for the Town of Durham as the Deputy Town Clerk-Tax Collector. In March of 2004 I was elected as Town Clerk over the years I have attended many classes and workshops covering the many aspects of my position. In August 2007 I completed a four year Town Clerk-Tax Collector Certification Program. Every five years I attend a recertification class, and continue to keep my certification active.
I continue to go to the Town Clerk and Tax Collector workshops and conferences to keep up with RSA changes, updates with and training with State Agencies, which include Motor Vehicle, Elections, Secretary of State Office, Vital Records, just to name a few.
I have been living in Durham most of my life, my father was in the military so we were gone for periods of time, but always returned to Durham. I have been here since 1972.
Many years ago, I was my daughter’s Girl Scout Leader for three years. I also was my son’s Boy Scout Leader for two years. I volunteered for many years at different functions at Mast Way Elementary School, where my children and grandchildren went to school. Over the years I have volunteered with many sports teams when my children were involved with Oyster River Youth Association.
I am an active member of the Town Clerk’s Association, the Tax Collector’s Association, and the New England Town Clerk’s Association. I currently serve as the County Coordinator for Strafford County, which I have done for several years.
Occupation: Town Clerk-Tax Collector
Years as Durham Resident: Most of my life, my father was in the military so we were gone for periods of time, but always returned to Durham. I have been here since 1972.
Previous Service on Governmental/Community/Civic Boards, Commissions, Committees, or Organizations. Prior to being elected as Town Clerk-Tax Collector in 2004 I held the position of Deputy Town Clerk-Tax Collector for 12 years.
Reason for Interest in Running for Elected Office: I am committed to serving the people of Durham. I believe my 28 years of experience first as Deputy then as Town Clerk-Tax Collector speaks for itself. I love what I do and enjoy helping the citizens of Durham, and work well with my coworkers.
Please consider me to continue to serve the citizens of Durham, as your Town Clerk-Tax Collector.
