The Wastewater Division is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the community’s 2.5 million gallons a day Activated Sludge Wastewater Treatment Plant, 4 pumping stations, nearly 20 miles of collection lines, septage receiving, sludge disposal and inspection of wastewater service installations.

Under normal conditions, approximately 1.3 million gallons of sewage are treated daily. The average detention time through the plant is 24.2 hours. Approximately 2,200 tons of dewatered solids are sent to Resources Management Incorporated, who apply the sludge to land applications around New England. 

Utility Connection Fee for new service connection or increase in use - to the Town’s wastewater system:

  • Single Family Residences and Duplexes - $400/bedroom
  • Mixed Use and Multi-Unit Residential (3 or more Units) - $0.015 per estimated gallon of water used per year
