Fund Raising Opportunity for Oyster River Forest Trails

Dear friends, hikers, neighbors, mountain bikers, and outdoor enthusiasts,

A group of Durham folks is working to raise funding and otherwise help complete a new trail, bridge, and small stream crossings on the Oyster River Forest, one of Durham's newest conservation areas. Our vision is for a continuous trail that connects the UNH campus, College Woods, the Oyster River Forest, and Spruce Hole Bog on 3+ miles of trails, including high-quality stream crossings and a section of handicapped-accessible trail. We envision trails that work for hikers, mountain bikers, xc skiers, runners, families, and more.  It will be an amazing recreational resource for our community!

See the attachment below for a complete description of this initiative , including plans to raise $38,000 to fund construction by Appalachian Mountain Club trail crews this fall .

Around 20 people attended a property tour of Oyster River Forest last wee (some of you were there), so now we're planning a meeting to discuss next steps, such as potential donors, other events, volunteer workdays, collaboration with UNH Office of Woodlands, and more. The good news?  We already have over $15,000 pledged to the project, so we're almost half way there!
