118-36 Transfer Station Entrance: Durham Resident Sticker or Temporary Entrance Letter

This Town issued sticker or temporary entrance letter allows a Durham resident or taxpayer to enter the Transfer Station and drop off items for disposal originating from the residential property in Durham from where they reside, in accordance with Article IV.

A. Proof of residency is required to receive a one-year resident sticker issued by the Town of Durham. This sticker may be rescinded for failure to adhere to the rules and regulations outlined in the Town’s facility operating permit, and this Ordinance.

B. If desired, residential property owners can receive one (1) no charge Transfer Station annual bulky waste coupon. This coupon will allow each residential property to dispose of up to a dual axle dump trailer size load, or its equivalent, of bulky waste items, on a single day. This coupon will be valid within the calendar year of issuance. The Director or their designee has discretion to inspect and refuse any load, or portion of load, determined to be inconsistent with the intent of this program.

C. The sticker is valid from January 1st – December 31st of the year issued.

D. The resident sticker shall be affixed to the lower left (driver’s) side of  the vehicle windshield.

E. There shall be no charge for a replacement sticker if a vehicle is replaced, provided the old sticker is returned to Durham Public Works.  In the case that an old sticker is not provided, circumstances will be evaluated to determine eligibility for a replacement sticker.

F. Additional stickers for vehicles from the same residential unit are available at no cost.

G. Temporary Entrance Letters may be obtained at the Durham Public Works by a resident who wishes to utilize an alternate vehicle and/or person to deliver acceptable solid waste, generated within the geographical boundaries of the Town of Durham, to the Transfer Station.
