2023 Revaluation Assessed Values
2023 Town Wide Revaluation Information
Information on letters being sent and how to respond
In accordance with standards set forth by the State of NH Department of Revenue and Assessing Standards Board, Municipal Resources, Inc. (MRI) with assistance from the Durham Assessing Office, has completed a reassessment of all properties within the community to equalize assessments at fair market value as of April 1, 2023. The 2023 preliminary revised (new) assessed values were developed by a market analysis covering two years of property sales with the Town of Durham.
Letters containing the preliminary (new) assessed values will be mailed out to property owners the week of June 12, 2023.
If you have questions or feel the preliminary assessed value does not reflect market value, you may schedule an informal assessment review hearing with an MRI representative. Informal review hearings may be scheduled:
- Online at www.mrischedule.as.me
- By phone at 603-279-0352 ext. 404, Monday - Friday from 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM
The deadline to request an informal hearing is June 27, 2023.
**Please note that MRI office staff will not be able to discuss your valuation or answer questions regarding your value if you call to schedule an appointment**
Please do not apply the current tax rate to your preliminary assessed value, as a new tax rate will be set in the fall. The new tax rate will be based on Durham’s 2023 budget and the total of new assessed values for the entire town. Due to the overall increase in property assessments, it is expected that the new tax rate will decrease proportionally. Durham’s preliminary property assessments have increased by 40-60%.
Valuation books by owner name and location will be available for public viewing in the lobby and Assessing Office of the Durham Town Hall. The Valuation lists can also be found on this webpage on the right menu. Property details can be viewed online at https://gis.vgsi.com/durhamnh/
**Please note, Durham Assessing Office staff will not be able to discuss your valuation or answer questions regarding your value. These questions will be addressed by MRI.**
Those unable to attend an informal hearing may request a review of their revised assessed value by MRI, with a written request and supporting documents, no later than June 28, 2023. Please send information by email to assessing@mrigov.com or by mail to the Durham Assessing Office, 8 Newmarket Rd, Durham NH 03824.
