Community Power Frequently Asked Questions
The main goals for Durham Community Power (DCP) are:
- To save residents money on the energy supply portion of their electric bill.
- Provide residents more choice of renewable energy suppliers and prices.
- Over time, provide for funding of local green energy projects and technologies that will benefit our area.
To accomplish this, Durham has joined the Community Power Coalition of NH (CPCNH), which will:
- Combine the purchasing power of over 15 NH communities to contract for the best power pricing.
- Operate as a non-profit, reducing the overhead of providing a guaranteed return to shareholders, and passing savings on to our residents.
- Leverage our purchasing power to drive more green power options in the marketplace
- Manage a portfolio of short and longer term contracts to provide protection from sudden rate hikes
Below are some FAQs about Community Power, for more information see the FAQ page on the CPCNH website https://www.communitypowernh.gov/faqs.
